As the boundaries and travel networks of Europe continue to grow and improve we are seeing more and more people looking towards organising their car hire prior to leaving for their holidays overseas. Whether you are looking at car hire in Spain, car hire in Italy of even car hire Portugal style, the options are there, online and instant.
The vast majority of car hire companies have joined together to cross sell each others services and ensure a seamless link to all major European countries. So it is now possible to log on and book your car hire before you actually arrive, secure in the knowledge that once you get there your car will be ready for pick up.
The car hire industry is just one sector which has benefitted substantially from a more open and organised approach to active breaks abroad. Gone are the days when tourists just landed in a plane, jumped aboard the bus to the hotel and did not move place for 2 weeks. More and more people are now looking at taking a little more control themselves and checking out the culture and history of the areas they visit.
There are more and more people who are taking a look at life behind the big name resorts, the English havens overseas are now losing out to the historic and beautiful areas inland where much of the local life has remained untouched for years. The residents of these areas have been shown to be very welcoming and approachable, often appreciating what can be a substantial increase in business and income for the area – without selling themselves out to the traditional home from home holiday resorts.
So which countries are proving more popular?
Spain has always been a country which has been very popular with a whole host of Europeans, from the British to the Germans and many more nationalities. It is also a country which is now seeing more interest in its traditional cultures and history, something which many people seemed to have forgotten even existed!
Portugal is another area which has always been an attraction for the traditional European holiday maker, and yet again a country which has often hidden its traditional cultures from the large holiday resorts. Countries such as Portugal have a culture and a history which is very varied and tells the story of progression and development in Europe. As with Spain, the further inland you move the more traditional the cultures and traditions, and while some are concerned that this trickle of interest may soon turn into a wave and change the areas (making them more commercialised), the authorities have vowed to retain the old look and feel to these untouched areas of the country.
