Men Can Do It Too! - Do Your Partner A Favour and Learn How To Spring Clean…

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Believe me…men can do Spring cleaning too!

Just because we are men doesn’t mean that we can’t give a helping hand around the house now and again – in fact we could even go as far as to surprise our partners when they get home from an afternoon of heavy shopping!  Why not – they’ll love you for doing something for both of you and you’ll reap the benefits…everyone’s a winner!

But where do we start?  Don’t worry, read on to find out exactly how we can surprise our partners by whipping out the feather duster and doing some Spring cleaning!

1.    Start in the garage – If you want somewhere to start then start in the garage.  Sort out what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of and then use the space when you’re going through the rest of the house.  Then when you’re done you can know what to take to the charity shops, sell, throw away or keep!

2.    Have a storage system in place – You need to be able to keep whatever you aren’t getting rid of in a tidy and organised way.  By being tidy and organised now you aren’t going to get messy again for a while!

3.    Garden furniture – It’s that time of the year that you need to dust off and take out the garden furniture so you can start enjoying barbeques in the coming sun!

4.    Winter clothes – Pack away your Winter clothes but while you’re doing that give them a check and sort out if there are any that you don’t want to keep hold of.  If there aren’t any that you feel like keeping hold of then put them aside and either sell them or give them to a charity shop…don’t put them away if you’re never going to wear them again!

5.    Winter bedding – Before you put the Winter bedding away you must make sure that it is all clear.  It’s going to be stored away for months and months and if it’s dirty then it’s going to be a pretty unpleasant experience when it comes to opening the bag that they are in when the Winter weather hits again!

6.    Windows – Clean and treat your windows making sure everything looks good.  Take a Hoover to them and get rid of any dust and dirt that has been building up since last Spring!

7.    Vacuum – Get your vacuum into every nook and cranny, lift furniture move tables and make sure you clean everything – don’t be afraid to move things around…you need to get that Hoover everywhere and you’re not going to be able to do so unless you flex your muscles and get that Hoover under everything.

Remember to give every aspect of the clean 100 per cent and don’t disappoint your partner otherwise you’ll never hear the end of it.  Put the effort in and you’ll be loved for weeks!

What do you think?

Tattoo Tips To Keep In Mind

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Around one in seven people in North America alone have a tattoo and they are more popular today than they have ever been – but most people can’t agree on the best way to prepare for, and how to look after, a tattoo.

Cleanliness is Key!

Make sure that the parlour where you get your tattoo done is clean!  Needles are going to burying themselves under your skin thousands of times over so there is somewhat of a necessity to use brand new needles in case of disease.

The needle used on you should be absolutely brand new and sterile.  Don’t be afraid to request that the tattooist go through the motions with you – watch as they get out a new needle and make sure all the tools used are clean.

If the artist lets you watch begrudgingly then forget it – walk out and go somewhere else because it just isn’t worth the hassle.  Don’t forget it is your skin and body!

Every piece of the kit used for your tattoo should be laid out specifically for your tattoo and the artist performing the tattoo should wear latex gloves…when applying Vaseline to the tattoo they should use a disposable piece of kit.

The key is cleanliness!  Get it right or it all could go wrong…

You’ll have it forever so get the design right!

Take time to choose the right design for your tattoo.  Will you be happy to look down at it when you’re old.  Don’t be too eager and regret it when it is too late!

Discuss your ideas with the artist.  Very often they will be able to suggest ideas and if they are a good artist then the ideas they suggest will be good ones.

Take examples with you and provide a realistic idea of what you expect from your session.  Don’t be scared to disagree with the artists suggestions, either.  As I said before it is your skin and you are the one that has to live with the design for the rest of your life!

Good skin holds a good tattoo…

It is a good idea to keep your skin fresh for your tattoo session.  Drink lots of water and make your skin hydrated and also use a lotion whenever possible.

You are always advised never to drink alcohol the day before you get your tattoo done as you could bleed excessively as your blood will be thin from the alcohol.

You should also be aware of the sun after getting a tattoo done as too much sun can make the tattoo fade prematurely which is just a complete waste of money and can be very disappointing.

Don’t be afraid to ask your artist for advice and if they are any good they will be ready to provide you with all the information that you need.  Take it all in and ask any questions that you are not sure about.

What about you?

Grooming tips for the modern man…

In today’s world it would seem that the better you look the further you are going to go, whether it’s with the ladies, in your career or when getting served at the bar – what a skin deep world we live in!

However how are you supposed to know what to do?  Where are the tips, the advice and the guides on how to look your best in 2009?  More and more men are turning to grooming products to help them out…read on to find out exactly what to do with them!

Say goodbye to those unwanted grays…

Gray hair can add years so it makes sense that getting rid of them can take years off again!  Get the gray hairs early – the earlier you can hide them the less obvious it will be.

Grab hold of an easy-to-use colour which you can slap on at home…you’ll reap the benefits of easy application with professional results…

If the facial hair is the first area to go gray then you also have the option of using a non-drip comb in colour that will work really well so give it a try…

Shave it…

The comb over died in the 50s so why balding men still fall back on this obvious method is beyond me…if you’re losing hair then don’t be afraid to shave it short.

Instead of hiding from the truth you will be embracing the modern man inside yourself while being comfortable with the new look…baldness is not the end of the world and it can actually look stylish!

And when those nose, ear and back hairs start to crop up when the head hair starts to vanish then don’t forget to keep on top of those hairs too.  Whip out the wax or trimmers and keep unwanted hairs at bay.

Look after your skin…

Wrinkles are unwanted and the best way to avoid them is by protecting your skin from harmful sun rays.  Use a daily moisturiser with a UV protection which will keep your skin looking good and safe all at the same time.

You should set aside some TLC time for your skin everyday – allow time for cleansing and gentle exfoliation followed by a moisturiser with sunblock.

Hands and feet…

One of the most basic hygiene tips involves looking after your hands and feet.  Manicuring your nails will go a long way to boost your personal hygiene and if anything you will feel a lot cleaner doing so.

A big problem with men is often smelly feet – we have all smelt the nasty odour and if we want to be a well groomed man we want to avoid it.  You should be scrubbing your feet everyday, drying them thoroughly and then applying odor-eaters to your shoes.  Don’t get caught with smelly feet…it’s gross!

What about you?

What tips could you pass on to other men willing to take the time out for grooming?  Perhaps you have some tried and tested methods that have worked for you over the years?  Let us know…
