How To Put A Positive Spin On Your Age

You may be worried if you are creeping over 50 that you won’t be in a job much longer - the word over the recent years is that employers are less likely to either employ or retain employees over the golden age of 50.

However, over the coming years this isn’t actually looking like it is going to be the case.  As more and more jobs open up over the coming years, there won’t be enough younger workers applicable for roles and older workers will be in their element.

You need to start realising that your age can work to your advantage - below are a few of the main ways you can turn your age to your advantage and get ahead in your career once again;

Offensive

Being an older worker doesn’t mean you have to feel grateful that you are still in full time employment.  In fact it should be the other way around - you are not an old worker, you are a highly experienced worker - you aren’t passed it, you are it!  You need to make sure that when people see you they are seeing experience and confidence!

You have a powerful tool to your advantage against the younger generations and that is experience and knowledge.  Over the years you have gained a wisdom that just can’t be held by the younger generations so make sure you use it to your advantage.

Forget Age, Think Results

Don’t rattle on to either your boss or your potential employer about how many years you have under your belt - this is just boring…who’s to say these years under your belt weren’t wasted making mistakes and dragging businesses down.

You need to show how you have achieved success over the years you have been working and then you’ll be attracting the attention of the boss!  These results are a true weapon that will beat off the competition…

Focus On The Now

If you are applying for a job, make sure that you don’t rattle on about the different roles you have had over the years - instead focus on what will impress your potential employer and stay relevant.

Over the years you have undoubtedly filled a lot of roles, however only mention the ones that will make you look good for this specific job otherwise you will look like a rambler.  If possible remove any irrelevant roles from your CV and just focus on what will impress the potential employer.

Resume Revamp

You should review your CV and see whether it needs to be revamped.  Think if you would hire yourself for the position if given your CV.  If not then re-work your CV in a way where you would hire yourself.  Get your CV right…

How To Stay Younger Without The Expense

Monday, April 6th, 2009

It’s a big billion dollar business – staying young is something that everyone is ready to pay money for!  However, it doesn’t have to cost the Earth – keep on top of these tips and stay younger for longer at practically no cost.

Drink Water

Water is great for making you look younger – water rinses off cell waste and washes away blood poisons as well as environmental toxins from the body.  Stick to the normal mineral waters and herbal teas to give yourself a youthful boost.

Inhale/Exhale

Stress is a massive cause of ageing so it makes sense to take stress out of the equation if you want to look younger.  A great way to relieve stress is to breathe.  Breathing clears the old air sacks in the chest, promotes focus and by breathing you will actually be working out your tummy.

Eat

We all eat but most people aren’t doing it properly.  You should forget the old “3 meals a day” rule and instead should be eating 5 smaller meals through the day.  By eating through the day you’ll be keeping your metabolism working which will keep you burning off that little bit of extra weight.

Don’t Over Exfoliate

You might think that the odd peel here and burn there might be making you look younger – in fact you are actually weakening your skins immunity.  Too much of a good thing and you’ll find that you will eventually kill your skin cells making you look older than you ever wanted!  Go easy with the skin…

Minerals

Minerals are a vital part of your diet – stay on top of your mineral intake and you will be strengthening your cell’s ability to fight off cancer, viruses and bacteria.  You should be getting minerals from food on a daily basis, but if you find that you don’t get enough minerals in a day then turn to liquid minerals.

Go Easy On The Sugar

Refined white sugar can kill vitamin B12 – 1 tablespoon of refined white sugar will kill all the vitamin B12 you have taken in one whole week.  Vitamin B12 protects the myelin sheath which protects nerve endings so next time you find yourself in the vitamin aisle at the chemist don’t be afraid to pick up a bottle of vitamin B complex.

Stretch

Stretching can do great things for your posture.  Do short stretch blasts through the day and notice your posture strengthen up in no time.  Don’t go over board and remember to take breaks between stretches.

Eat Fats

There are good fats and bad fats – the bad fats are found in processed foods for example and you should steer well away from them.  The good fats are found in foods like avocados and other vegetables and provide a great source for essential fatty acids which work to aid the heart and protect it against disease and cancer.

Man Becomes Father at 75

A baby at 75…

It’s never to late to try something new – but in Paul-Louis Mariasusay’s case 75 years old is apparently not too old to parent a child.

Paul-Louis from London was shocked and thrilled at the news that his new wife, Gena, was to bear his child.  The news came to the pensioner just months after marrying Gena, who is only 38 years old – almost half Paul-Louis’ age.

The child, named Xavier, isn’t the first for Paul-Louis who has already brought two other children into the world, not to mention his 5 grandchildren.  Infact one of his children is actually older than Gena.

Paul-Louis, who used to work as a BT engineer, is said to be thrilled at Xavier’s arrival who was born at a healthy 7lbs 11ozs.

Born in Malaysia, Paul-Louis has been living in England for over 30 years but actually found his new love on a trip he took back to the Far East to visit his family.

Excited at the chance to be a father again…

Speaking about the birth of his son and how he is dealing with being a father at such a mature age, Paul-Louis stated how much he appreciated the chance to be a father to a small baby once again.

“I may be a pensioner, and it is almost 40 years since I looked after a baby, but I haven’t forgotten how to change a nappy and it is just marvellous to be a father again.

“I know that Michael Douglas and Cary Grant both became fathers again when they were older - but I am older than both of them,” said Paul-Louie.

“The baby came as a complete surprise. I had no idea that I could still become a father at my age but Xavier is a lovely gift.

“We soon became good friends and then I asked her to come to this country for a holiday - and while she was here I proposed to her. She accepted and then she never went home.

“I get plenty of comments about Xavier when I’m pushing him in his pram from people who think I am his granddad. I am proud of Gena and Xavier and I want to walk with my head up high,”
he continued.

Not everyone is happy about the birth.

However, Paul-Louis didn’t hide the fact that his family had been against the marriage to Gena and didn’t take the news too well when they found out that the couple were expecting little Xavier.

Still, Paul-Louis wants to keep his focus on being a good father and bringing Xavier into a good family home.

“I will do everything I can to be a good dad - educate and provide for him and my wife.

“I just want to spend as much time as possible with my son and don’t want to think about the future - everything is perfect so far.”

Paul-Louis, Gena and Xavier live in Acton and were married in February of last year.
