Last night was an awesome night. I came home from work, slipped off my shoes, whacked a microwave curry in, cracked open a can of beer and got myself comfy on the couch to watch the Champion League Final between Chelsea and Manchester United.

And what a night it turned out to be, enthralling from start to finish, even my missus was on the edge of her seat (and she supposedly “hates” football yet has developed an understanding of the offside rule so well she could get a job teaching referee’s) shouting at the TV screen that “he was offiside”, “send him off” and some expletives that are too rude to print.
The first half was amazing, really fast and fluid – the perfect advertising for the nations game. Ronaldo knew that ball was in the net as soon as he left the ground and I’ll be honest I dropped some Doritos on the floor when the ball dropped past the
The half was pretty action packed, yellow cards, good passing, an unfit Rooney and poor Paul Scholes got a thump on the nose but ‘manned up’ considerably to keep playing.
Man Utd seemed to control the play and Ferguson would have loved to go in to the break one-up but Frank Lampard got a lucky break and banged one in at the stroke of half time.
So a quick toilet break, more food and a couple more beers later and it was time for the tensest half of football I’ve seen in a long time. It could have gone either way;
Highlight of the whole match for me was when perennial idiot, sissy and diving git – Didier Drogba was sent off for probably the most pathetic slap on Vidic. Maybe Averam Grant will use this as an excuse for sacking the fool.
Anyway, the game ended one a piece so on to the most nerve wracking penalty shoot-out I’ve ever seen. I could go through each penalty but I’ll just cut to the chase. When Ronaldo stepped up, you would have put your house on him putting it away, so you have to imagine the fans horror when the young player of the year (and probably best on the planet) fluffed it. I couldn’t believe it; my missus couldn’t believe it and I honestly thought
This meant that John Terry,
Back on the edge of my seat I got ready to see Ryan Giggs – a legend – stepp up and cool-as-you-like netted what would be the winner. Anelka couldn’t beat
